Redanian Intelligence has published updated data on Netflix's spending on «The Witcher», which includes information on the third and fourth seasons, as well as the spin-off about the «Rats of the Borderland» gang.
Netflix continues to expand the universe of «The Witcher», and with each year, the costs of projects based on the franchise are noticeably increasing. According to Redanian Intelligence, total investments in the series and spin-offs have exceeded $720 million. This does not include the animated films «Nightmare of the Wolf» and «Sirens of the Deep», as well as the final, fifth season.
The financial breakdown by main parts of the franchise is as follows:
- «The Witcher», season 1: $92.1 million ($11.5 million per episode)
- «The Witcher», season 2: $176.3 million ($22 million per episode)
- «The Witcher: Blood Origin»: $51.5 million ($12.8 million per episode)
- «The Witcher», season 3: $175 million ($21.8 million per episode)
- «Rats of the Witcher»: $21 million (amount is not final)
- «The Witcher», season 4: $221 million ($27 million per episode)
Thus, according to Redanian Intelligence's estimate, after the completion of the fifth season, the total budget of «The Witcher» on Netflix may exceed $900 million.
The fourth season of «The Witcher», where Liam Hemsworth debuts as Geralt, replacing Henry Cavill, will be released on October 30. All eight episodes will be available on this day. The release of a special episode about the «Rats of the Borderland» gang is also expected, but Netflix has not yet officially confirmed this information.
