It's no secret that publisher Take-Two has high hopes for the release of Grand Theft Auto 6. And, according to informant Millie A, the company already has a forecast for initial sales.
The publisher allegedly predicts that the game will sell between 18 and 20 million copies in the first 24 hours after release. The estimate is based on data from wishlists in the PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store, as well as pre-orders in retail.
For comparison, GTA 5 in 2013 started with a result of more than 11 million copies sold on its premiere day. Since then, the game market has grown significantly, and interest in the new installment of the series is called unprecedented.
According to analysts, GTA 6 is capable of reaching 85 million copies in the first two months, which is equivalent to a revenue of about $7.6 billion.
There are seven months left until the release. Despite the fact that Rockstar has not yet shown full-fledged gameplay materials, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick stated that there is no reason to doubt the current release date.
If the forecasts come true, GTA 6 could set an absolute sales record in the history of the industry on its launch day.
