Liam Hemsworth, who will play Geralt of Rivia in the fourth season of "The Witcher", spoke for the first time in detail about how he perceived the news of his participation in the project — and how he reacted to the flurry of discussions on the internet.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the actor admitted that the offer to play Geralt was unexpected for him. "It came out of nowhere. I was as surprised as anyone", Hemsworth recalls.

After the official announcement in 2022, the news caused a strong reaction: many disputes, memes and criticisms appeared on the Internet. In order not to let this affect him, Hemsworth made a radical decision — to abandon social networks.

"There was quite a lot of noise, and I had to step away from it. It became distracting. This is not the first time I have encountered such things, but ultimately I love making movies, telling stories and acting. And I don't want all this to affect my approach to the role."

According to him, he did not use the Internet for almost the entire past year and completely excluded social networks from his life. This made it possible to focus on preparing for the role, explore the universe and build his own image of Geralt. The actor noted that he rewatched the previous three seasons, reread Andrzej Sapkowski's books and replayed the games of CD Projekt studio, which he calls one of his favorite series.

Hemsworth also emphasized that he respects Henry Cavill's work: "I am a big fan of Henry and what he has done in this series."

Nevertheless, he decided to focus on his own interpretation of the character. Hemsworth said that in the image of Geralt he was attracted by a brighter, more humane side, hiding behind the external restraint of the character. He noted that he feels close to Geralt's protective instinct — including thanks to the experience of his father, Craig Hemsworth, who worked as a consultant in the child protection service. "We were raised with a real sense of caring for the people around us. There is something in this that is close to me."

The premiere of the fourth season of "The Witcher" will take place on October 30, 2025 on Netflix.
