Frieren will embark on a new journey in January 2026. The second season will cover three story arcs from the original manga by Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe.
The premiere of the second season of the anime "Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End" will take place on January 16, 2026. Studio Madhouse has confirmed the release date and presented a new key poster featuring Frieren, Fern, and Stark.
According to preliminary information, the second season will cover the following arcs of the original manga: "The Continuation of the Northern Journey," "Divine Rebellion," and "Golden Land." The latter is considered one of the most anticipated and will likely be a bridge to a potential third season.
Production is once again being handled by Studio Madhouse, but there have been changes in the creative team. Tomoya Kitagawa, who directed key episodes of the first season, is now the chief director. His predecessor, Keiichiro Saito, has moved to the position of creative consultant. New character designers have also joined the team: Takasemaru ("Violet Evergarden"), Keisuke Kojima ("100-Meter Dash"), and Yuri Fujinaki, who previously worked on only one episode of the first season.
The anime is based on the manga by Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe and tells the story of an immortal elf who, after defeating the Demon King, faces the loss of her comrades and embarks on a journey to rethink the value of human life.
The first season, which was released in the fall of 2023, received high praise from both viewers and critics. The series took second place in the "Anime of the Year" nomination and received several other awards, including "Best Adaptation" and "Best Fantasy Setting."
