For fans of the series, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has prepared a surprise. During Tokyo Game Show 2025, they presented not only a demo of Yakuza Kiwami 3, but also a separate new game serving as a prologue to the reimagined story of the third part.
Yakuza Kiwami 3: Dark Ties will be an expansion to the remake. The project focuses on the biography of Yoshitaka Mine, the antagonist of the original. The authors want to show where his sense of inferiority comes from, which prevents him from communicating with people and being honest even with loved ones. Despite the fact that the release of the add-on together with Yakuza Kiwami 3 is scheduled for February 12, 2026, the developers decided to present fragments of the adventure and Mine's techniques to the audience in advance.
A demo was prepared for the exhibition, available to both visitors to the stand and viewers of the special Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio panel. The studio emphasized diversity: it showed the first steps of Mine's acquaintance with Tsuyoshi Kando, battle scenes, and even an episode with karaoke.
