Writer Andrzej Sapkowski, the creator of "The Witcher" book series, expressed his dissatisfaction with the concept of "Witcher Schools," which became popular due to video games, in a recent Q&A session on Reddit. Sapkowski, who began writing about the adventures of Geralt of Rivia in 1986, noted that the idea of schools such as the "School of the Wolf," "Bear," or "Viper" was only mentioned in passing in his book "The Last Wish" and, in his opinion, does not deserve development.
One sentence about some "School of the Wolf" mysteriously made its way into "The Last Wish." I decided not to develop this idea and even considered it harmful to the plot. Therefore, I never mentioned any "Witcher Gryffindors or Slytherins" later. However, this sentence was enough for the creators of adaptations, especially video game developers, to seize on the idea with amazing tenacity and actively develop it. This is completely unnecessary.
The author admitted that he has not yet decided what to do with this concept. Among the options are to remove the mention of schools from future editions of "The Last Wish" or, perhaps, to reveal the theme of Witcher medallions and their connection with characters in new books.
