Amazon MGM continues to build the cast for the remake of the 1986 "Highlander". It was previously reported that Dave Bautista ("Guardians of the Galaxy") would play Kurgan, the main antagonist of the film. However, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Connor MacLeod, played by Henry Cavill, will have another adversary who was not in the original film.
This role will be played by British actor Jeremy Irons, known for his portrayal of Alfred Pennyworth in Zack Snyder's "Justice League". According to the publication, Irons landed the role of a representative of the secret order of Watchers — people who monitor the activities of Immortals.
The "Highlander" reboot, directed by Chad Stahelski, is in the pre-production stage. Initially, the start was scheduled for autumn, but Cavill suffered a leg injury during training, which delayed production by about six months.
The film still does not have an approved release date. Chad Stahelski previously mentioned 2027 or 2028, but a release in 2027 now seems unlikely.
