Dotemu announced the adaptation of the upcoming arcade beat 'em up even before the game's release.
Animation studio Supamonks and publisher Dotemu have announced the launch of an animated series based on Absolum, a fantasy beat 'em up set to release on October 9th for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
The project is being handled by Supamonks Studio, responsible not only for the game's artistic design but also for all the animation. According to the head of the studio, Julien Bagnol-Ruas, the series is a logical continuation of the work on the game's universe.
"We are particularly excited to create this animated series, as Supamonks has been involved in Absolum from the very beginning. Our teams helped shape this universe, and the opportunity to turn it into an animated show feels like a natural and exciting next step. This is a unique chance to add a new dimension to a world we already know well."
Dotemu CEO Cyrille Imbert also emphasized the special status of the project.
"Absolum is the first original game in our portfolio, and it has received special attention at every stage of development. Thanks to its elaborate lore, visual style, and plot, we are confident that it will turn into an excellent series that we will enjoy watching ourselves. The quality of Supamonks' work and their involvement in the artistic direction [during the game's development] make them the ideal partner for this ambitious project."
Details and the release date of the animated series have not yet been disclosed.
