Players should not expect new features, as the update does not add any noticeable changes for users.
The company also released a similar update for PS4, indicating a common vulnerability fix for both systems. The official patch notes are limited to one line: "We have made security fixes to the system software." Journalists speculate that this refers to closing a possible exploit, but Sony does not disclose specific details.
As a reminder, earlier this month, the PS5 already received a major update with a power-saving function and the ability to link a DualSense controller to multiple devices. Judging by the experience of previous years, a new major update will not appear soon, as the company warns about such changes in advance. The probability of another major system update before the end of 2025 is estimated as minimal, but Sony may change its plans if necessary.
