The technical condition of the game does not please fans.
For several years, The Sims 4 players have been complaining about "corrupted saves." The problem is associated with the "For Rent Expansion Pack" — files often break for those who have installed this DLC.
Recently, Maxis talked about finding a "partial solution" to the problem, which they were testing.
Now they have shared the results of the investigation — a potential source of the problem has been found, but there is still no solution:
«One of our leads concerns the \"Scratch File\". These are important but temporary files that the game depends on, and according to reports, they may disappear or be deleted, which may lead to corruption.
We are now looking for the root cause of these deletions, paying particular attention to any areas where The Sims 4 files may come into contact with other systems, cloud backup services, and other external factors that may delete or overwrite these files.»
The developers also noted that cases of save corruption were observed even before the release of the For Rent expansion, so they will check other DLCs as well. The investigation is ongoing.
