Japanese magazine Famitsu released a new issue featuring a review of Ghost of Yotei. The PS5 exclusive received a near-perfect score of 39/40.
This is a rarity for Famitsu: according to Push Square's calculations, only 30 games have ever received a perfect 40/40. Another 55 games have managed to score 39/40. The magazine's rating system combines four individual scores from four reviewers, each scored on a ten-point scale. In the case of Yotei, it's three tens and a nine.
Interestingly, Ghost of Tsushima on PS4 received a perfect 40/40 at launch in 2020. At the time, the game became only the third foreign game to be awarded such a score.
Although Ghost of Yotei failed to surpass its predecessor, it is a great success for Sucker Punch studio. As a reminder, Tsushima was a huge success in Japan, and Famitsu's high score may help Yotei repeat the result—or at least that's what Sony hopes.
