Rock Band is preparing to celebrate an anniversary that will be both a significant and sad event.
This week marks 10 years since the release of Rock Band 4 — the latest full installment in the series, released for the then-modern platforms PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Despite the round date, the developers have not announced any festive events.
Recently, a message appeared in the official Discord channel: on October 5, the tenth anniversary, Rock Band 4 will be removed from the digital stores of the PlayStation Store and Xbox Store. This means that new users will no longer be able to purchase the game. Owners who purchased the project and additional content earlier will retain access to it and will be able to continue downloading purchased music and DLC.
The studio confirmed that the reason for removing Rock Band 4 from sale is due to the expiration of licenses for the musical compositions included in the game.
