Ghost of Yotei, the sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, made a strong debut in the UK, taking the top spot in physical sales charts for its release week.
According to The Game Business founder Christopher Dring, the project surpassed EA Sports FC 26 and sold nearly three times as many boxed copies as Super Mario Galaxy 1 + 2 on Switch.
However, comparing it to the debut of Ghost of Tsushima, he clarified that physical sales decreased by approximately 40%. He still called the result "impressive" considering the current market situation.
It is worth noting that the share of physical game sales for PlayStation has significantly decreased compared to 2020. According to Sony's report for the 2024 fiscal year, which ended in March 2025, discs account for only 3% of game revenue, while digital versions account for 20%. This suggests that the majority of Ghost of Yotei sales came from online stores, and the drop in boxed copies does not reflect the true picture.
