Megabonk has entered the top 20 most popular games and simultaneously attracted over 100,000 players eager to battle endless waves of enemies and become incredibly powerful.
The peak number of players reached 117,336. The project was released on September 19, 2025, by Vedinad studio, essentially a pseudonym of a single developer, Danidev, in reverse. The author worked on the game for about a year, explaining in a YouTube video in February 2025 that he had been working on Megabonk for "already 4 months" at that point.
The developer noted that he was inspired by Vampire Survivor — a 2D game with similar mechanics. He decided to create an analogue, but in 3D, adding movement dynamics. As a result, Megabonk turned into a mix of Vampire Survivor, Risk of Rain, DmD, Halls of Torment, and other roguelike projects that the author enjoys.
