Statistics take into account players from the USA.
According to the Future of Video Games survey for the third quarter of 2025, most gamers in the US buy new video games no more than twice a year.
The study showed that 18% of American gamers buy a new game approximately once every six months, and 12% once a year. Another 33% buy games less often than once a year. Thus, 63% of players in the US buy no more than two games annually.
At the same time, 22% of gamers buy a new game once every three months, 10% approximately once a month, and only 4% buy more than one game a month.
Commenting on the results, Piskatella noted that the 14% of players who buy games monthly or more often play a key role in maintaining demand for games at full price.
