The Nintendo Switch 2 remains the best-selling game console in the US for the third month since its release. In August 2025, the new console from Nintendo topped the charts in terms of units sold and revenue, offsetting double-digit declines in sales of PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and the original Switch. This is according to data from the analytical company Circana.
Overall sales of gaming hardware in August increased by 32% year-over-year, reaching $312 million. For the year since the beginning of 2025, sales totaled $2.9 billion, which is 20% higher than the same period last year.
As of August 30, the Nintendo Switch 2 has sold more than 2.4 million units in the US. Compared to the original Switch, sales of the new model are 77% ahead of schedule.
