Nintendo Switch 2 remains the leader in game console sales in the US for the third month since its release. In August 2025, the new console from Nintendo topped the ranking in terms of the number of units sold and revenue, offsetting double-digit declines in sales of PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and the original Switch. This is evidenced by data from the analytical company Circana.
Overall sales of gaming equipment in August increased by 32% year-on-year, reaching $312 million. For the year since the beginning of 2025, sales amounted to $2.9 billion, which is 20% more than in the same period last year.
As of August 30, Nintendo Switch 2 has sold more than 2.4 million units in the US. Compared to the original Switch, sales of the new model are 77% ahead of schedule.
