Amazon is preparing an adaptation of the second Critical Role campaign based on Dungeons & Dragons.
Amazon has unveiled the first trailer for the animated series The Mighty Nein - the second project in the Critical Role universe. The action takes place in the same world as "The Legend of Vox Machina," but twenty years later and on a different continent.
"The Mighty Nein" tells the story of a group of fugitives and outcasts bound by secrets and scars. But when a powerful magical relic called the "Beacon" falls into dangerous hands, the heroes must learn to work together to save the kingdom and prevent the destruction of reality.
The plot of the series is based on the eponymous second campaign of Critical Role, which was released in the format of a show and podcast from 2018 to 2021. As with Vox Machina, all the central characters are voiced by members of the original party - including Laura Bailey, Travis Willingham, Sam Riegel, and other regular guests of Critical Role.
The script for "The Mighty Nein" was written by Tasha Hau, who previously worked on the controversial prequel "The Witcher: Blood Origin," as well as on the reboot of "Red Sonja" and the animated series "Tomb Raider: Legend of Lara Croft" for Netflix. The animation is once again handled by Titmouse studio, which worked on Vox Machina.
The premiere of "The Mighty Nein" will take place on November 19 exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.
