Warner Bros. presented a behind-the-scenes video for the film «Mortal Kombat 2», timed to coincide with the studio's panel at Comic Con in New York. The video includes interviews with the actors, fragments from the set, and new official footage from the sequel.
The creators promise that the sequel will be the largest film in the franchise, with even more spectacular battles, signature moves, and fatalities.
Martin Ford, who plays Shao Kahn, noted that the authors improved «literally every aspect of the picture». Lewis Tan (Cole Young) emphasized that the film became «bigger on all fronts», and director Simon McQuoid stated: «You haven't seen “Mortal Kombat” on this scale yet». According to Karl Urban (Johnny Cage), the sequel is «an epic story that they have to share».
In the second part, the very tournament that the franchise is named after will finally start. The heroes will have to unite to stop Shao Kahn and his army, which threatens the existence of the Earthrealm. Although Johnny Cage has become a central figure in the promotional campaign, according to the director and actors, a significant part of the plot will be devoted to Kitana, played by Adeline Rudolph.
The cast also includes Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Ludi Lin, Mehcad Brooks, Tati Gabrielle, Joe Taslim, Chin Han, Tadanobu Asano, and others.
The premiere of «Mortal Kombat 2» will take place on May 15, 2026.
