DICE will continue to use the Battlefield Labs system, which proved to be extremely useful in the development of Battlefield 6. The developers have confirmed that a similar format of cooperation with the community will be part of future studio projects, including Battlefield 7.
Battlefield Labs is a closed testing ground where players are given access to new mechanics and feedback is collected in order to then adjust the game during the creation process. According to the team, working through Labs is like "operating on a living organism."
In an interview, producer Nika Bender and project director Salim Fasaahat spoke about the studio's new philosophy:
"When the game is already released, feedback comes too late. BF Labs allows you to get player opinions during development, when you can make real changes."
Fasaahat added that Labs has become a key part of the work:
"We are actively testing weapons, time-to-kill and time-to-death balance - all this goes through Battlefield Labs."
According to Bender, the opinion of players is now the basis of all studio decisions:
"The community has become the unofficial foundation of our process."
Battlefield 6 was released on October 10 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
