Ghost of Yotei by Sucker Punch Productions was released on October 2, 2025, on PS5 and received high marks from critics. Although Sony has not yet disclosed official sales data, analyst Rhys Elliott from Alinea Analytics reported that the game sold over 1.6 million copies in its first week.
If retail shipments are taken into account, the total volume reached 2 million copies, which brought in about $100 million in revenue. Despite a strong start, sales were lower than those of Ghost of Tsushima, which sold 2.4 million copies in three days in 2020. Among the reasons, the analyst cited a smaller PS5 owner base and high interest in games during the pandemic, which then supported demand.
According to Elliott, 30% of players spent more than 20 hours in Ghost of Yotei in the first week. At the same time, 93% of the audience had previously played Ghost of Tsushima, 30% in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and 27% in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
In 2026, the project will receive a free co-op Legends mode with story and survival missions.
