According to unconfirmed reports from alleged employees, Target and Walmart are discontinuing the sale of physical Xbox games. Reddit user Jawwaad127 claims that all Xbox games have been removed from the shelves of their Target store and believes this applies to all branches of the chain.
"On Wednesday, our Target removed all Xbox games, and I think this will be the case throughout the chain," says the alleged employee. "All games are discontinued and will probably go on sale. After so many years of selling Xbox, it's strange to see only PlayStation and Nintendo on the shelves."
A Target employee also shared nostalgia: "In 10 years, I don't think there will be any games in stores — only download cards. It's sad, because I've experienced a lot spending time at the video game shelves."
User Spacefox_85, claiming to work at Walmart, reported that their store is also removing Xbox games. "We are currently renovating the electronics department, and the new layout does not include Xbox. Switch and PlayStation will be in their cabinets. In a year of work, I can count on my fingers how many times I sold an Xbox game."
If this is true, Target and Walmart are not the first. According to recent data, Costco and EB Games are already reducing the range of Xbox consoles and games in their stores and on their websites.
