RDR2 is once again at the center of rumors. More and more sources claim that Rockstar Games is preparing an updated version of the game for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch 2. Details about possible changes have been analyzed by Digital Foundry specialists.
According to John Linneman, the Switch 2 version may surprise — visually, it will be better than on PS4 and Xbox One, although it will not reach the 4K resolution available on Xbox One X. At the same time, a graphics level close to PS4 Pro will be a serious step forward for the portable platform.
The main problem remains the size of the game — the original weighs more than 100 GB, and the largest projects for Switch 2 take up about 70 GB. Oliver Mackenzie believes that Rockstar will have to use advanced compression or data streaming methods. If this works out, RDR2 will become one of the most impressive games on the new Nintendo console.
As for the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions, experts expect a 60 fps mode, improved resolution with upscaling to 1800p, and possibly ray tracing, especially in the area of global illumination. Richard Leadbetter noted that such improvements can significantly transform the visual part of the game.
So far, all this remains at the level of rumors — Rockstar has not officially announced anything. Players can only wait for confirmation.
