League of Legends has been one of the main esports games for many years and does not forget about seasonal events with a touch of humor. Usually Summoner's Rift looks familiar, but old players remember the times when the map turned into a snowy holiday in winter.
After a long break, Riot Games has officially confirmed the return of the winter version.
In a special video, the company showed a map covered in snow. This is the first time since 2018 that Summoner’s Rift will once again receive a festive design — with snowdrifts, gifts, snowmen and a sense of self-irony characteristic of League. Executive producer Paul Bellezza said that the decision was not planned in advance, but fans literally forced the studio to do so.
"Technically, we had to redo a lot in the tools and engine, but if you want it so much, we'll do it," he said, lying in the snow and making a snow angel.
It is not yet clear whether the skins and rewards from the old Snowdown Showdown events will return, but, according to the developers, it is expected to be more than just a visual update.
