Many games have been released on PC, and journalists have decided to compile a selection of the best.
Recently, PC Gamer journalists presented an updated list of the «top 100 best PC games». It includes both new projects and a variety of classics.
The following approach is used to compile the list:
«Before voting, the PC Gamer team can nominate any computer game for voting in the Top 100. Based on these nominations, we compiled a long list of 300 games. Then each team member is invited to subjectively evaluate these games in three weighted categories».
- Quality: How good is it? A purely personal assessment of the game.
- Importance: How remarkable is it? Impact on other games and beyond.
- Freshness: How unique is it? Ability to stand out among other games.
Then, using a special formula, the rating is calculated and a list is compiled, but it is slightly edited:
For the sake of variety, we limit the list to one game from each series — we include several only if we believe that the games are different enough from each other to both deserve mention, for example, Baldur's Gates 2 and 3. Otherwise, games with low ratings in the series are removed.
