It is reported that the PS5 version of The Outer Worlds 2 contains just over 1.3 gigabytes of data on the disc, and players will have to download the remaining 71.6 gigabytes with update 1.002.

The Outer Worlds 2 works from the disc even without a network connection, but players will still have to go through verification in the PS Store once.

Recently, Microsoft has been releasing exclusively symbolic disc versions of its games, forcing players to download these purchases even with a physical medium in hand. A similar situation occurred with DOOM: The Dark Ages, as well as Indiana Jones and The Great Circle.
