Netflix has entered into an exclusive agreement with game publisher Asmodee and is preparing a series of projects based on the popular board game "Catan: Settlers of Catan". The streaming giant has announced a number of films, series and games inspired by the game's mechanics — strategy, trade, construction and interaction between players.
"We understand how important this project is. We decided to pool resources and show Asmodee the full power of Netflix in formats such as series, films, animation and games. Settlers of Catan fans will be delighted, and new viewers will finally understand how important sheep trading is."
The projects will be led by Darren Kyman from Asmodee, Pete Fenlon from Catan Studio, as well as Guido and Benjamin Teuber, sons of the game's creator Klaus Teuber. It is worth noting that Netflix has already collaborated with Asmodee to create an animated series and a mobile game based on the board game "Exploding Kittens". No specific details about the new projects have been provided yet.
