Microsoft's gaming division president Sarah Bond gave an interview to Mashable, in which she mainly talked about ASUS ROG Xbox Ally and tried to refute claims that Xbox Ally is not a full-fledged Xbox product.
Bond also hinted at the future of Xbox hardware. She gave the clearest idea of how Microsoft is positioning its next console.
The next-generation console will be a premium and very carefully thought-out product.
The terms "premium" and "carefully thought-out product" indicate that Microsoft's gaming division is going to turn its consoles into products that are inaccessible to most gamers. Xbox fans shouldn't be upset, as Bond stated in the same interview that the company is confidently moving towards multiplatform, considering the idea of tying a game to a device outdated. Apparently, in the next generation, Xbox will have no exclusives at all.
According to Bond, some ideas for the next-generation console have already been implemented in Xbox Ally, but she did not go into details.
