Xbox Game Studios is preparing a large-scale release. According to Game Informer, reviews for The Outer Worlds 2 will appear on October 23, 2025. The publisher is confident in the project, so it sent copies of the game to reviewers several weeks before release.
Buyers of the premium version will be the first to start playing the game, which will be released on October 24, 2025. The remaining players will begin exploring space on October 29.
The Outer Worlds 2 is built on Unreal Engine 5, an engine known for its high hardware requirements. NVIDIA is already using the game in its materials, emphasizing support for ray tracing, DLSS 4, and Frame Generation technologies. Judging by the engine's "appetite", these features will really come in handy.
During IGN Fan Fest 2025, a fresh gameplay trailer was shown. Along with it, Obsidian presented one of the musical tracks that will be played on radio stations within the game. Unlike the Fallout series, the studio decided not to use old songs, but to create original compositions in a retro style.
