Production of the new console will be very costly for Microsoft.
Well-known insider KeplerL2 shared his opinion on the prices of PS6 and the next Xbox, noting a significant difference. According to him, PS6 will be cheaper due to less powerful hardware.
The new Xbox has 42% more silicon, 20% more memory, and higher costs for the board and cooling. In addition, Microsoft will not be able to subsidize the cost through support for third-party stores.
PS6 will likely have less RAM than Xbox, known as «Magnus». On the NeoGAF forum, KeplerL2 clarified that Xbox Magnus will be equipped with 36 GB of RAM, while the portable PS6 will get 24 GB, and the PS6 for home use will get 30 GB.
This data confirms the August leak from Moore’s Law Is Dead, who claimed that the new Xbox would be more powerful than the PS6. At the same time, the insider noted that Sony could set the price for the PS6 in the range of $499–599, based on the specifications. However, he warned that Sony may raise the price if it deems it necessary.
