Netflix has likely parted ways with Texas-based Boss Fight Entertainment, acquired just three years ago. The company, founded in 2013, had grown to open three offices, but now, it seems, they are no more.

Netflix acquired the studio to strengthen its gaming division and integrate projects into the streaming service. But shortly after the deal, plans changed dramatically: there were reports of mass layoffs in other Netflix Games divisions — Night School Studio and Spry Fox — as well as the closure of the internal Team Blue team, which included veterans of Halo, God of War, and Overwatch.

Now it's Boss Fight Entertainment's turn, the creators of Dungeon Boss Respawned and Squid Game Unleashed. ResetEra users noticed that studio employees updated their LinkedIn profiles, indicating the cessation of operations. Everything points to the sudden closure of the company.

The acquisition of promising studios increasingly ends the same way — closure after a few years. Many are wondering: why do corporations with billions in revenue buy talented teams, only to liquidate them later?
