PC gamers have another opportunity to support the preservation of their favorite games.
GOG has a special "GOG Preservation Program" designed to support old games so that they can continue to work on modern hardware and operating systems.
Recently, the DRM-free game store launched the "GOG Patrons" subscription, offering players the opportunity to financially support the GOG preservation program on a regular basis.
Subscribers are offered a number of bonuses:
- membership in a Discord* community of like-minded people;
- the ability to vote for games to be restored as a priority
- the nicknames of gamers will be mentioned on the pages of the games they helped save;
- GOG also promises "behind-the-scenes content": they will show how the restoration and preservation of games takes place and more)
GOG Patrons is just an additional way to directly support the preservation program, not a game subscription.
