The console will be as close as possible to a PC in terms of its capabilities.
According to Windows Central journalist Jez Corden, Microsoft plans to radically change its approach to its Xbox game console, bringing it closer to the capabilities of a PC. As part of these plans, the next generation of Xbox will support various digital stores, such as Steam and Epic Games Store.
The integration of these platforms will provide access to games that were previously PlayStation exclusives, such as God of War and Spider-Man, on the Xbox platform. However, such games will not be full-fledged releases for Xbox and will likely not receive support for traditional features such as trophies.
The first steps in this direction have already been taken: the ROG Ally X portable console supports Steam and Epic Games Store. The new Xbox is also expected to receive similar functionality.
The release date of the new console and additional details have not yet been disclosed, but the changes promise to make Xbox a more open and versatile gaming platform.
