Amidst Microsoft's high-profile announcements, including Halo: Campaign Evolved, fans have raised questions about the fate of other series. These include Perfect Dark, as The Coalition studio was shut down along with the project, and Forza Motorsport.
In an interview, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer addressed the question of whether the series had been "shut down": "No!" According to him, the company sometimes focuses on projects that are released earlier, and therefore temporarily shifts priorities. He noted that he understands the community's reaction after the reduction of the Turn 10 Studios team.
"There are many games that we want to support. Sometimes we give studios more time so they are not under constant pressure."
It was previously reported that Turn 10's staff was reduced by almost 50% during the latest wave of layoffs at Microsoft. The studio is currently assisting in the development of Forza Horizon 6 and is working on a port of the game for PS5, which will be released after the release on Xbox Series X/S and PC.
Whether Forza Motorsport will return is still unknown. However, Forza Horizon 6 will be released in 2026 and will for the first time send players to Japan - with tracks in Tokyo and at the foot of Mount Fuji.
