When publisher Embracer faced financial problems, one of the games affected was the TimeSplitters reboot. The project was shut down, and Free Radical studio ceased to exist.
But the enthusiasm of the fans turned out to be stronger. Fans have completed their own version — TimeSplitters Rewind, which will be completely free and without microtransactions. The authors call it "the largest free game in history" and promise the following content:
- 28 maps;
- Story mode online and offline;
- 50 arcade leagues;
- 32 challenges;
- 91 characters;
- 41 types of weapons;
- 20 arcade modes;
- New mode — Team Elimination;
- Updated Last Stand;
- Arcade with bots (online and offline);
- Online for up to 10 players.
The project combines materials from TimeSplitters, TimeSplitters 2 and Future Perfect. After 12 years of development, fans on the official website announced the release date — November 23.
