PlayStation announced Loulan: The Cursed Sand, a new action role-playing game being developed as part of the China Hero Project.
The game is being created for PS5 and PC, which guarantees console exclusivity. Players compare it to a combination of Diablo, Prince of Persia, and the classic God of War.
The plot takes place in the ancient Silk Road, in the lost kingdom of Loulan. The main character is a skeleton warrior who controls the power of sand. His goal is to save his beloved princess and resist powerful enemies and ancient curses. The story is inspired by the archaeological discovery of the "Princess Xiaoxhe" mummy and combines tragedy, mysticism, and the epic scope of Eastern fantasy.
The warrior possesses two combat forms: Sand Form, where the body is surrounded by golden sand, and Bone Form, where sand energy turns into a deadly weapon to fight many opponents. Along the way, he will meet the royal family of Loulan, ice spiders of the Western Lands, and other ancient creatures.
The development is being handled by a team of 16 veterans from Santa Monica Studio, FromSoftware, and PlatinumGames. They combine classic arcade battles with modern mechanics and impressive graphics.
Loulan: The Cursed Sand is among the most interesting projects of the PlayStation China Hero Project, and players note the idea, atmosphere, and visual design.
