Rumors indicate that Microsoft plans to remove the multiplayer fee for the next generation of Xbox, eliminating the differences between PC Game Pass and the more expensive Ultimate tier.

Game Pass has undergone many changes: the price of Ultimate has risen to $30, two new subscription tiers have appeared, and Xbox Cloud Gaming has become available to everyone. PC Game Pass remains unchanged, despite the increase in cost. Microsoft's new approach may make the Xbox environment more like Windows, but how this will affect subscriptions is not yet clear.

According to Jez Corden from Windows Central, the idea is that multiplayer features should not require an additional fee, which is especially pleasing for fans of large online games such as Call of Duty and Battlefield. But this does not completely solve the problem of choosing between PC Game Pass and Ultimate, as the former offers all first-day games from Microsoft at a lower price.

Corden added that Microsoft may conduct a similar update for PC Game Pass, possibly introducing an Ultimate version for PC with exclusive benefits. The existing set includes Ubisoft+ Classics, as well as bonuses for League of Legends, Overwatch 2, and Rainbow Six Siege, but details are not yet known.
