The premiere of the science fiction action film "Predator: Planet of Death" took place in London, and the first responses to it have been mixed.
According to journalists, the new installment is more like a space road movie than a classic "Predator" film. Reviewers praise the duo of Elle Fanning and Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi, noting the light tone of the film and unexpected emotionality. Some critics even call the film an "almost family-friendly" adventure.
Despite praise for the direction, humor, and visual style, it is the departure from the usual formula that has become the main cause for debate. Barton Reviews notes that turning "Predator" into an adventure comedy reminiscent of "The Mandalorian" may disappoint longtime fans of the franchise.
This view is shared by Phil Roberts from Future of the Force, who considers the film a bold expansion of the universe, but is sure that loyal fans will feel shortchanged. And Paul Klein from Filmhounds magazine added that some creative decisions look controversial and will inevitably divide the audience.
The premiere of "Predator: Planet of Death" in cinemas will take place on November 7, 2025.
