Backbone has announced a special edition smartphone controller, the Backbone One: Death Stranding 2 Edition, created in collaboration with Kojima Productions and PlayStation.
Backbone has announced that a limited edition of the Backbone One: Death Stranding 2 Edition smartphone gamepad will go on sale on November 6 for $160. Only 1350 units will be produced, and pre-orders will open at Best Buy stores, the official Backbone website, and the Kojima Productions Store.
The controller is based on the basic Backbone One model but features a unique design inspired by the aesthetics of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. Transparent inserts on the case allow you to see the internal elements, and the color scheme refers to the equipment of Sam Porter Bridges and the Drawbridge company logo.
Each unit comes in a collectible yellow case, stylized as a box from the game and equipped with an individual number. Like other second-generation models, the Death Stranding 2 Edition features an improved D-pad, magnetic adapters for attaching a smartphone, and supports operation with iOS and Android devices.
This is not the first time Backbone has released a device inspired by the universe of Hideo Kojima. Previously, the company introduced a model based on Death Stranding: Director’s Cut, with a translucent body reminiscent of a BB capsule.
