Following the incident, the studio was attacked by a trade union, accusing it of the "most unscrupulous" act in the history of the gaming industry.
The British trade union Independent Workers’ Union of Great Britain (IWGB) accuses Rockstar Games of grossly violating workers' rights for cutting more than 30 people in offices in the UK and Canada. According to the union, all those dismissed were members of a private Discord chat dedicated to trade union activities, and had either already joined the IWGB or were planning to do so.
Rockstar has just committed one of the most unscrupulous and ruthless acts of union busting in the history of the gaming industry. This blatant disregard for the law and the lives of the workers who make them billions is an insult to their fans and the entire global industry.
The parent company, Take-Two Interactive, rejects the accusations and claims that the employees who were laid off "grossly violated discipline."
