In the near future, many will be making extraction shooters (horrors, platformers, musicals).

Lunacy Games, founded by Blizzard veteran Bill Roper, has announced a $500,000 investment from the Big Bang Accelerator. The funds will go towards the development of the cooperative extraction horror Innsmouth Mysteries, inspired by the works of Howard Phillips Lovecraft.

The game is set in a mysterious seaside town in the 1920s. A team of four supernatural detectives must uncover the secrets of Innsmouth, collect artifacts, and stop the awakening of an ancient evil before midnight.

Bill Roper, who was at the origin of Warcraft, StarCraft, and Diablo, left Blizzard in 2003 and created Hellgate: London. Lunacy Games initially planned a sequel, Hellgate: Redemption, and a western horror Skinwalkers with cowboys and Lovecraftian themes, but the projects did not find funding in the range of $15-20 million.
