According to Uniko’s Hardware, NVIDIA may have abandoned plans to release the GeForce RTX 50 Super line of video cards. The reason, it is claimed, is a shortage of 3-gigabyte GDDR7 memory modules, which will not enter the mass desktop PC market. This will directly affect potential RTX 5080 Super, RTX 5070 Ti Super, and RTX 5070 Super models.

Earlier, insider Kopite7kimi reported that the updated series was supposed to be released at the end of the first — beginning of the second quarter of 2026 and offer an increased amount of video memory. NVIDIA planned to switch from 2-gigabyte GDDR7 chips to 3-gigabyte chips to expand the volume to 24 GB for the RTX 5080 Super and RTX 5070 Ti Super, and up to 18 GB for the RTX 5070 Super. However, according to Uniko’s Hardware, 3-gigabyte chips are reserved for mobile solutions — including the RTX 5090 Mobile and professional RTX PRO 6000.

In addition, sources report an increase in prices for 2-gigabyte GDDR7 modules, which is already affecting the cost of desktop video cards in the RTX 50 series. In the near future, this may lead to an increase in the price of models, especially in the mid-price segment.

It is worth noting that NVIDIA has never officially confirmed the existence of the Super line for the RTX 50. The first rumors appeared thanks to insiders and were based on an analogy with previous generations of the company's video cards, where such a series did exist. Therefore, this information should be treated with caution — it is possible that NVIDIA initially did not plan to release the RTX 50 Super and therefore did not comment on the corresponding leaks.
