PlayStation continues to develop global initiatives, helping young studios from different countries. The PlayStation Hero Projects, launched by Sony Interactive Entertainment in 2016, supports developers from regions with a small gaming presence.
The program started in China, then covered India, the Middle East, and North Africa. Its goal is to give new teams a chance to create original games with national flavor.
The latest result of the program is SURI: The Seventh Note, an Indian rhythmic platformer that received its first trailer. The developers call it a "love letter to the classic games they grew up on." Players will find a magical world where every movement and action is synchronized with epic music. The plot tells the story of a girl, Ajira, who sets off to the mystical island of Suri to save her mother by finding a magical fruit hidden in the heart of a land disfigured by a dark melody.
The game mechanics are based on the ability to catch the rhythm of the world and use its energy against forces that react to every sound. Special attention is paid to the Rhythm Haptics Engine technology, created in conjunction with PlayStation. It allows you to feel the music through the vibrations of the DualSense — from soft notes to deep bass, creating a full immersion effect.
The developers emphasize that the project would not have appeared without the PlayStation India Hero Project. For them, the opportunity to release a game on PlayStation 5 is a childhood dream come true. The release is scheduled for 2026.
