Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa stated that Nintendo Switch 2 prices will only be affected by external factors such as tariffs for now.
While Sony and Microsoft have already raised prices on their consoles in the US due to import tariffs, Nintendo has no such plans. The company will maintain the current level of hardware profitability, so price changes are only possible with serious external factors, such as changes in tariffs.
Furukawa noted that with the increase in the cost of materials, there are areas where costs can be reduced through mass production. The company does not expect the recent price increases to significantly affect the profitability of Switch 2.
As for sales, the main buyers are still owners of the original Switch, but Nintendo is also working to attract new players through the release of games and other measures. Sales of Switch 2 among early and late buyers of the original console are approximately equal.
