In a new interview, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick admitted that Borderlands 4 sales were below expectations. He attributed the decline to "problems" with the heavily criticized PC version of the game, although Gearbox head Randy Pitchford previously insisted that there were "few" real problems.

Borderlands 4 was released in September with mostly positive reviews from critics, but quickly earned a "negative" rating on Steam due to player complaints about poor performance on PC. In response to criticism, Pitchford actively defended the release on social media, claiming that the PC version was "well optimized" and affected only a "very, very small percentage of users."

Now, Zelnick has directly pointed to problems with the PC release as the reason for weak sales, and assured that Gearbox is already working to fix them.
