Ken Paxton, the Attorney General of Texas, has filed a lawsuit against Roblox Corporation, accusing it of ignoring online safety laws and turning the platform into "an uncontrolled digital marketplace teeming with predators and sexual content".
Paxton called Roblox a "breeding ground for predators", where the company puts "pixelated pedophiles and corporate profits" above the safety of children in Texas. According to the Attorney General, the platform allows perverts to use the virtual currency Robux to lure minors, even though it positions itself as a "safe and family-friendly platform for children".
The lawsuit contains evidence, including screenshots of games with Nazi symbols, Ku Klux Klan avatars, simulations of nude parties, and human trafficking scenarios.
We cannot allow platforms like Roblox to continue operating as digital marketplaces for predators, where the well-being of children is sacrificed to corporate greed. Roblox must do more to protect children from the sick and twisted freaks hiding behind the screen. Any corporation that facilitates child abuse will face the full and relentless force of the law.
