Nintendo has confirmed the release date for the Pokemon Pokopia life simulator, developed by Omega Force, for Nintendo Switch 2.
The game will be released on March 5, 2026, in digital and physical formats and is already available for pre-order in the Nintendo eShop for $69.99.
The physical version will be presented as a Game-key Card, an empty cartridge that serves only as a key to download the game from the Internet. After installation, players will be able to play offline, but the cartridge must remain in the console. It will be the first Nintendo game to use this approach.
In Japan, pre-orders for the boxed version will start on November 13, 2025. A 10-minute gameplay video will be released on the same day. Despite the novelty with the cartridge, Pokemon Pokopia promises a complete life simulator experience, immersing players in a world full of interactions with Pokemon and picturesque locations.
Nintendo notes that the new physical version format may cause mixed reactions among Switch 2 owners, but will reduce the size of the cartridge and speed up the update process.
