Valve is expanding the Steam ecosystem, focusing on universal solutions for gamers.

Valve has officially announced the launch of three new devices under the Steam brand. In early 2026, the company will release an updated Steam Controller, a compact Steam Machine gaming PC, and the Steam Frame virtual reality headset. All the new products are based on solutions used in the Steam Deck and run on SteamOS.

Steam Controller 2 is a logical development of Valve's portable console ideas. The gamepad features new generation magnetic sticks, trackpads, a gyroscope, and additional buttons on the rear panel. The controller is compatible with Steam Deck, PC, and other ecosystem devices. Battery life reaches 35 hours on a single charge.

Steam Machine is a compact, cubic mini-PC about 16 centimeters long. The device runs on SteamOS and is equipped with an AMD Zen 4 processor (6 cores, 12 threads), RDNA 3 architecture graphics with 28 compute units (Radeon RX 7400 level), and 16 GB of DDR5 RAM.

Models with 512 GB and 2 TB of built-in storage will be available, as well as microSD card support for memory expansion. Valve claims that the system is capable of providing 4K gaming at 60 frames per second using AMD FSR scaling technology.

In addition, the company will launch the Steam Machine Verified program, similar to Steam Deck Verified, so that users can be sure that games are compatible with the new system.

The third novelty is Steam Frame, a standalone VR headset that can both stream games from a PC and operate completely independently. It is built on a Snapdragon processor and uses SteamOS. The headset is equipped with two LCD displays with a resolution of 2160×2160, a frequency of up to 144 Hz, and a viewing angle of 110°. Steam Frame comes with 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB or 1 TB of storage. The controllers support six degrees of freedom (6-DOF), finger position sensors, and magnetic sticks.

All devices will be released in the first half of 2026.

Despite the abundance of new products, Valve once again emphasized that it is not yet ready to talk about Steam Deck 2. According to engineers, the company is waiting for a "real technological leap" in performance and energy efficiency before releasing the second generation of the portable console.
