The Pokémon Company, Game Freak, and Koei Tecmo are preparing an unusual project, Pokémon Pokopia. The game will be released on March 5, 2026, exclusively for Switch 2 and offers a non-standard look at the universe.
The story centers around Ditto, transformed into a girl. She meets many familiar creatures, including Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur. These Pokémon help change the surrounding space. Ditto can adopt their techniques and use the acquired skills to interact with the environment.
The developers presented an extended video with 10 minutes of gameplay. It explains the key mechanics and tasks that Ditto will perform to restore life to the devastated territory.
The deserted region gradually comes to life. After the appearance of habitable zones, new types of Pokémon begin to arrive. Since different creatures react to different types of locations, you will have to develop a set of activities. Ditto can master the abilities of those creatures that appear in the created areas in order to expand the set of actions and move on.
