According to The Wrap, the main antagonist of the film «Man of Tomorrow» — the sequel to «Superman» 2025 — will be Brainiac, a techno-organic alien intelligence that collects entire civilizations as samples for his research.
The plot of the sequel will bring Superman and Lex Luthor together, who will have to work together to resist the new threat.
Until now, Brainiac has never appeared in full-length Superman films, although in comics he is considered one of his strongest and most significant opponents. According to journalists, his debut in «Man of Tomorrow» may be preparation for a larger project — potentially a «Justice League»-level film.
The premiere of «Man of Tomorrow» is scheduled for July 9, 2027. James Gunn is once again the director and screenwriter. David Corenswet (Superman) and Nicholas Hoult (Lex Luthor) will return to their roles.
