Metacritic has published a list of the worst games of 2025, focusing on projects that disappointed players. This year, the market offered many successful games, including Hades 2, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Donkey Kong Bananza, Hollow Knight: Silksong and Split Fiction, but there were also some failed projects.
The main disappointment of the year was MindsEye — the debut project of the studio Build a Rocket Boy, led by Leslie Benzies, one of the creators of GTA. The game received only 37 points due to critical bugs, non-working mechanics and terrible technical condition. The problems were so serious that PlayStation began returning money to players — a rarity comparable to the failure of the Cyberpunk 2077 release.
Second place went to Tamagotchi Plaza (43) on Switch 2 from Bandai Namco. Critics considered it a boring set of repetitive mini-games that are not even affected by nostalgia.
Top ten worst:
- MindsEye (PC) – 37
- Tamagotchi Plaza (Switch 2) – 43
